How to Install the New Version of iOS for Mac Users

Are you eager to get your hands on the latest version of iOS? If so, you're in luck! This article will guide you through the process of installing the new version of iOS for Mac users.

First things first, make sure your iPhone is compatible with the new version. You can check by going to Settings > General > About and looking for the 'Software Version' section. If it says 'iOS is up to date,' then you're good to go!

Now that we've got that out of the way, let's get started. To begin, open the Settings app on your iPhone and scroll down to the 'General' section. Tap on 'Software Update' and wait for the download to finish.

Once the download is complete, you'll see a notification that the update will install. This process can take some time, so be patient! You can at least carry on with other things while the download happens.

During this time, your device will move onto Preparing Update, which can also take a while. Don't worry, it's normal for this step to take longer than estimated. In our experience, this process can take double or even triple what this estimates!

Once the update is complete, you'll be prompted to enter your pin and agree to the terms and conditions. Then, you'll see an indication of how much time it is likely to take.

Before you begin, we strongly recommend that you back up your iPhone. This will ensure that all your data is safe in case something goes wrong during the update process.

Another reason to hold off updating straight away is that it can be wise to wait a week or so until Apple issues iOS 17.1, which is usually a fix for any bugs that arrive with the first iteration. This means the process can take a lot longer and be more frustrating than it would otherwise be.

First, on the day a major iOS update arrives, Apple's servers can become overloaded. There are a few reasons why you might want to wait a little longer. Once iOS 17 is available, you may want to quickly install it.

The further into the testing process, the less risky it becomes to install the beta, but the beta process continues after the full version so if you want to avoid downloading buggy betas as Apple continues testing new features, it's worth removing yourself from the beta testing.
